Welcome to your Profit Improvement PlannerMore profit starts with understanding what you can change
You've taken the first step towards making more intentional decisions about your business profitability.
The Prosper Profit Improvement Planner is designed to help you understand where your business is today, explore opportunities to improve profitability, and create a practical plan for moving forward.
You don't need to be a numbers expert. We'll guide you through the process, one step at a time.
What you'll achieve
By working through the planner, you'll be able to:
Understand your current business profitability and identify the gap between where you are and where you'd like to be.
Explore 12 practical strategies for increasing sales, improving margins and reducing costs.
Model the potential financial impact of different changes before committing to them.
Choose the opportunities that make the most sense for your business.
Build a personalised action plan with clear priorities, responsibilities and next steps.
The goal isn't just to identify how much more profit your business could make. It's to work out what you're actually going to do to achieve it.
Before you get started
You'll get the most value from the planner if you have a few things handy:
1. Your annual business revenue
How much your business earns from sales, excluding GST.
2. Your annual direct costs
The costs directly associated with delivering your products or services, such as materials, stock and subcontractors.
3. Your annual overheads
Your regular business operating expenses, such as rent, administration, insurance and other running costs.
4. A profit goal (optional)
If you have a particular annual profit figure you'd like to achieve, keep it in mind. The planner can help you explore ways to close the gap.
You can generally find these figures in your latest annual financial statements or a recent 12-month profit and loss report.

-
Start with realistic assumptions. Small, achievable improvements are often more useful than ambitious projections you can't confidently deliver.
You don't need to do everything. Choosing two or three meaningful priorities can be more effective than trying to change every part of your business.
Profit and cashflow aren't the same thing. An improvement in profitability doesn't necessarily mean you'll immediately have more money in the bank. Consider the timing of cash receipts, payments, tax obligations and any investment required.
Your plan can change. Business conditions change, and so will your priorities. Save your progress and revisit your assumptions as you learn what works.

You can save your planner information and return to it later.
Use the Save option to download a copy of your editable plan, and keep that file somewhere safe. You can upload it again when you're ready to continue.
You can also export a PDF of your completed financial projections and action plan for future reference.
Tip: Save your editable plan as well as your PDF. The PDF is useful for reviewing and sharing your plan, while the editable file lets you continue working on it.
